Scholarship to St.Bede's School, England

Oluwatosin Michael, a 16yr old Pepsi Football Academy student, has obtained a full 2 year sports scholarship to St. Bede's School in East Sussex, England.

The scholarship, valued at around £64,600 [about N17million] over the two years, will be borne by St.Bede's School, the Seven Up Bottling Company and PepsiCo Beverages International.

The scholarship, for tuition and boarding costs, as offered by St.Bede's, is valued at £44,600 [about N12million]

All other costs, including six Lagos/London return flights for holidays over the two years, house bank/spending money, local UK travel, academic materials etc will be covered by Seven Up and PepsiCo.

"He has been accepted as a full-time boarding student at St.Bede's Senior School with effect from the beginning of the Autumn term, 2007. He will enter our lower fifth form and commence a two-year programme of GCSE courses" said Maria Leigh, the school secretary, in her confirmation letter to the Pepsi Football Academy.

Michael joined the Pepsi Football Academy at the age of 6 and according to the PFA Consultant, Iain Nelson "has been offered, through membership of the Pepsi Football Academy, a life-changing opportunity to both study and play football at school in England."

An elated Mrs. Oluwatoyin Michael, said it was a dream come true for her only son to get such an opportunity. "What can I say but to thank the Almighty God, Pepsi, Mr. Laloko, Mr. Nelson, Mr. Joyce, and St.Bede's School for this," said Mrs.Michael.

Michael is now at school in the UK.
